Classic Teams vs New Teams
Microsoft has been transitioning users from the original Teams desktop client (classic Teams) to a rebuilt version — new Teams — since 2023. New Teams loads faster and uses less memory, but some features and settings are in different places. Both versions are covered throughout the guides above, with specific steps called out where the process differs.
If you are unsure which version you have, look at the top-right corner of the Teams window. New Teams shows a New badge next to the window controls. You can switch between versions using the toggle that appears next to your profile picture. Microsoft has confirmed that classic Teams will continue to be available alongside the new version.
Teams on Windows, Mac and Mobile
Most of the troubleshooting guides above focus on Windows, as that is where the majority of Teams issues occur. Mac-specific steps are included throughout where the process is different. For Teams on Android and iPhone — including notification settings, mobile calling, and switching between personal and work accounts on a phone — see the Microsoft Teams mobile guide.
